Poul Volther (1923 - 2001) Poul Volther was born January 2, 1923 and died January 23, 2001. He began his studies with training as a carpenter, then turned to furniture design. He developed aesthetic and simple craft while boycotting the ephemeral fads. For Poul Volther, the design of a product is as important as the rendering of the finished product. We can remember the Corona EJ5 Chair as his most famous creation. Due to its floating pads, the Corona Chair seamlessly blends into the scenery. Before knowing a great success in 1967, this chair underwent multiple improvements. A spine-like metal structure reminiscent of the human form resulted, conforming to the body shape and offering a relaxing position. The Corona Chair was honored in 2012 at the EU summit in Copenhagen a year after the death of Poul Volther.
